Perfect Timing: Week 9

01 Jan

Perfect Timing is a weekly photography project by two friends who met in college, became roommates and have been close ever since. We share a love for languages and travel, and although we’re from the same southern state, we now live on different continents, balancing a demanding work life with a private life. We both agree that everything happens for a reason, whether we see these moments as positive or negative at the time, propelling us ahead or slowing us down. We hope you will join us each week, as we share little moments of Perfect Timing with you.

It’s the beginning of another year, and I’m extremely grateful to look back on 2014 as a year in which I was able to connect with friends through photography in a variety of settings. The Perfect Timing project is a very special one for me, because I get to share it with my dear friend, Mary. I was downtown last week, while at home visiting with family, and I passed some of our old stomping grounds. One really cool place where we used to hang out and get a bagel and some coffee (of course, Mary likes coffee, too!) happens to still be there and operating. South Bound Bagel & Coffee Shop is a quaint little spot where we used to hang out with a few friends of ours in college. It’s near the train station, which explains the name and is situated with its large windows on a busy little street corner where patrons can enjoy the view of the relaxed hustle and bustle that characterizes the downtown area. It was closed the day I shot this, but I hope to one day get the chance to go enjoy a bagel, a warm cup of joe and some great conversation with my good friend again. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to 2015 and continuing our project. Happy New Year!

{a tribute to old friends}

Mary of Moe-Digger Photography and I became friends in college after we realized how much we had in common. We each grew up with three brothers, played sports and studied history, languages and cultures. I still remember our SLR cameras and our love for shooting with film. We have shared many wonderful experiences together over the years and have supported each other through some of the most significant moments in our adult lives. I am excited to take on this project with her. Now, hop on over to Germany to see her favorite place and how she spent part of the holiday break!: Favorite Place
